Una's
The Una’s restaurant rebrand concept aims to breathe new life into this Darlinghurst institution in eastern Sydney and create a new identity and design system with which it might expand. The identity focuses on Una’s 50-year heritage and zeroes in on what it’s best known for: its homely continental food and reputation, especially for its schnitzels. Using a warm 1970s palette, and retro typography and patterns, the identity celebrates Una’s history, while the focus on simple, clean lines brings it into the modern. The branding focuses on its main strength: Una, the name, the person. The mark and secondary graphics put a face at the centre, thus personalising it, telling its story and creating an emotional connection to the brand and what it stands for: home. The environmental design leans into the retro aesthetic – Picasso-esque graphic illustrations, retro signage and wallpaper with a 70s pattern– but with a clean, contemporary style.
